We’re finally here. This is the first post of a project that Emily and I began thinking of 18 months ago. A lot has changed since then, but also a lot has stayed the same.

We are the parents of four great kids, each with their own unique strengths and challenges and we wouldn’t have it any other way.

Our oldest child, Taylor, was diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in November of 2017, and our son, Jackson, was officially diagnosed with ASD in April 2019 (though we and his pediatrician suspected ASD for over a year).

Makenzie is our sweet peacemaker in the home, and Hailey is our little 3-year-old doing 3-year-old things.

Pictured from left to right: Jackson (age 5), Taylor (age 10), Hailey (age 3), Makenzie, (age 8).

This space is where Emily and I will share our journey. It is mostly for us, but we hope that by sharing and by being more open we can free up some bandwidth in our minds and lift some of the heavy burdens we carry off of our shoulders.

The daily grind that is autism parenting is indeed a journey. You are welcome to be a part of ours.
